Enlargement of an existing civic centre, part of the public park “Parc de les Aigües”.

 

The main purpose of this project was to find a creative whilst efficient way to enlarge an existing civic centre. This was placed over the historical water mine of Montcada i Reixac municipality and could only be extended vertically. Therefore, the project was solved creating a new floor plate over the existing roof, which visually opened up to the surrounding natural environment and manage a new entrance from the back of the building. The extension was built with precast light components connecting the existing building to the new roof.
