BCQ creates architectural and urban projects that combine sensitivity and intelligence with the environment and aims for excellence in the financial organization of real-estate initiatives. The final goal of creating projects is to make them real. For this reason, BCQ considers the quality of their construction techniques, materials and buildings to be of utmost importance.
David Baena set up BCQ in 1995. Subsequently Manel Peribáñez, Maria Taltavull and Jordi Sánchez joined as partners. Today BCQ arquitectura barcelona has become an international firm specializing in architecture, landscape and urbanism projects.
They have developed wide teaching experience in national and international schools of architecture such as the ETSAV, ETSAB and UIC School of Architecture of Barcelona, or the ETH in Zürich, the Strelka Institute of Moscow and the McGill University in Montreal.
The work of BCQ is a product of the recent urban and architectural development of the city of Barcelona. In 2015 BCQ won the First Prize Ciutat de Barcelona and the First Prize Catalunya Construcció for the Joan Maragall Library in Sant Gervasi and the MIPIM Awards Best Industrial & Logistics Development for the Wastewater Treatment Plant project in 2013.
BCQ has been invited to speak about their work at national and international venues and his projects have been included in numerous international architecture publications.
Monographic books on their work are Reflejos|Reflections (2008), TC Cuadernos vol.105 - BCQ BAENA CASAMOR Arquitectura 1996-2012 and Library of Light about the Library Sant Gervasi - Joan Maragall (2014).
