Montjuic Fire Station

 Back to Projects list
Location
Pg. Josep Carner 48-56, Barcelona, Barcelona
Year
2011

The Montjuïc Fire Station is located on the site resulting from the confluence of Josep Carner Avenue, Paseo de Montjuïc and the mountainside.

The building is placed in parallel to the avenue recognizing its importance as the entry and exit to and from the city. As the main building is clearly horizontal and is highlighted by the 100m-long concrete mass of the first floor, the volume of the tower of practice becomes the only vertical counterpoint, a fact which allows maintaining the reference of the mountain of Montjuïc at all times.

The articulation of the functional program is carried out by distinguishing between the parts related to the activity of the fire department, located at street level, and those related to the residential, located on the first floor.
